The “Hatching Pete/Dadnapped” double feature DVD is being released on May 12th. You can have both movies on one DVD and for a very reasonable price.

Hatching Pete
When Pete is begged by his best friend Poole to stand-in as their high school’s mascot, the chicken, Pete agrees as long as his identity will remain unknown. Poole, who is allergic to the chicken suit but feels he can’t quit being the mascot because his family legacy is to be the chicken, readily agrees to keep the secret. When Pete dons the chicken suit, he becomes transforms into an outrageous guy, and the chicken becomes a celebrity except no one knows that Pete is the chicken. With everyone anxious to find out the chicken’s true identity, Pete must decide if it’s finally time to admit that he’s the man behind the beak.

Dadnapped
Fourteen year-old Melissa could use some attention from her dad, Neil. That’s because bestselling author Neil seems to spend most of his time creating exciting missions for his imaginary son teen spy Tripp Zoome. A daughter-dad vacation gets off to a rocky start when Neil tells Melissa that their vacation to the Grand Canyon will include a stop at a promotional event for his new Zoome book. What is supposed to be a quick detour ends up becoming a rescue mission after Neil is abducted first by overzealous kid fans, and then by two creepy brothers who might be dangerous. Now it is up to Melissa to tap into her inner Zoome and find the courage and know-how to save her dad.

The guys spilled some secrets from the set of the movie to BOP/Beat.

They talked about what they did between scenes on the set, like playing Guitar Hero, going out to eat and just hanging out. They also chatted about how great Utah was, where they filmed the movie.

“Sonny with a Chance” star Tiffany Thornton took a minute to talk with TWIST at the Jonas Brothers 3D Movie premiere. She chatted about “Hatching Pete” and making a music video with Mitchel Musso.

She said, “We have our music video for Hatching Pete coming out with the movie in April. And Mitchel and I are shooting that in a week and a half and we are very excited about it.

“Mitchel and I both recorded the song together in a studio and their going to show clips of the movie. It’s a big dance number in the movie, is the song that we recorded. So, we’re just really excited about the music video. It was really fun, we hope that you guys like it.”

The movie is about “shy high school student Pete (Jason Dolley) struggling to be noticed, especially by his crush. When his best friend Poole (Mitchel Musso) needs a break as the school mascot due to an allergic reaction to the chicken suit he wears, he convinces Pete to stand in for him at a couple of the basketball games.”

Both Jason and Mitchel have to wear the chicken mascot costume in the movie. Mitchel said, “I’ve had to wear that thing a bunch of times. It’s hot and it’s sweaty and amazing. I love it.” Ew, lol.

During the Disney Channel New Year’s Eve special, Totally New Year, they showed clips of three new Disney Channel Original Movies coming in 2009. They are Hatching Pete, Dadnapped and Princess Protection Program.

“Hatching Pete” includes not only Jason Dolley, but also Mitchel Musso (Hannah Montana) and Brian Stepanek (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody). The movie was filmed in Utah at Hillcrest High School.

Here’s the movie plot:

Cleatus Poole (Mitchel Musso) is the school mascot at Hondo High School and his whole family have been mascots too, but he’s allergic to the costume. So his best friend Pete (Jason Dolley) dons the costume and becomes immensely popular, although no one knows that it’s not Poole in the costume. As a result, a falling out occurs between the friends.

Sounds like a cute movie!

Disney has been busy making announcements lately. The newest ones are which series they have ordered back for more and what Disney Channel Original Movies are in the works.

If you were wondering about the future of “Hannah Montana“, don’t worry. Disney ordered a third season of the hit show, so we can all expect new episodes which will make some of you very very happy! They have also picked up a second season of “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Phineas and Ferb“.

As far as the hugely popular Disney Channel Original Movies, we have all heard that High School Musical 4 is already being written. Which was pretty exciting news. What else is on the DCOM schedule?

• “Dadnapped” starring Emily Osment, Jason Earles, Moises Arias, David Henrie and Phill Lewis, which is built around a girl who is frustrated with her author-father, who is never around. During a father-daughter vacation, her dad goes missing and she must find him.
• “Princess Protection Program” starring Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Tom Verica, which is about a teenage princess who must flee and go into a top-secret protection program.
• “Hatching Pete” starring Jason Dolley and Mitchell Musso, which is about a shy high school student who’s struggling to be noticed. He fills in for a friend as school mascot, and while in costume becomes a star.

I’d say all of us Disney Channel fans have a lot to look forward to! When I get definite release dates for these movies I will let you know.

Jason Dolley and Mitchel Musso have teamed up for a new Disney movie called “Hatching Pete“. Jason is playing Pete, who’s a shy high school student, and Mitchel is playing his best friend.

They just recently started filming in Utah, close to the High School Musical 3 set! How cool is that?!
