Jennifer Stone Set for “Harriet the Spy”

Wizards of Waverly Place cutie Jennifer Stone is set to star as Harriet Welsch in Disney Channel’s “Harriet the Spy”! I am so excited for Jennifer. She is such an amazing actress and deserves a lead role like this. We had the chance to chat with her back in March and she is so nice and funny.

The live action TV movie is set to air sometime next year.

“Jennifer Stone is a great talent for our network,” sad Disney Channel programming head David Levine. “We know kids love to see series stars in movies.”

“Harriet the Spy” was made into a movie back in 1996 with Michele Trachtenberg playing Harriet. It’s based on a best selling novel and is about Harriet who is determined to become a famous author. In the meantime, she practices by following a regular spy route each day and writing down everything she sees in her secret notebook. Her life is turned upside down when her classmates find her notebook and read it aloud!

A huge congrats to Jennifer Stone!

‘Tinker Bell’ Disney Channel Debut

If you haven’t seen ‘Tinker Bell’ yet, you can watch it on November 30th at 8/7 c for the Disney Channel debut! It is a great movie and if you love Tinker Bell, I can promise you, you will like this movie. You get to hear her speak for the first time and see her Fairy world, as well as meet her Fairy friends.

You can see some great clips from the movie here. Pop some popcorn and enjoy the movie. After you watch it, be sure and come tell me what you thought about it. I always love hearing your opinions.

Disney Channel Original Movie ‘Dadnapped’ Trailer

Update: The movie is NOT premiering on November 21st. Instead, it had been given a 2009 release date. Sorry about that!

The Disney Channel Original Movie ‘Dadnapped’ is airing on the Disney Channel this Friday, November 21st. The movie stars familiar Disney favorites Emily Osment, David Henrie, Moises Arias and Jennifer Stone.

Melissa has a bad case of sibling rivalry, only her competition is a fictional character in her father’s best-selling novel about a teenage super spy. When her father is “dadnapped” by a group of overzealous fans, it’s up to Melissa to help him by tapping her inner superhero.

I have a feeling the ratings won’t be great for this movie because it’s competing with two big movies premiering in the theaters the same night: Twilight and BOLT. Are any of you planning on watching Dadnapped Friday night?

A New Disney Society Page, Plus Other Disney Channel Star News

Guess what?! I have a new page and well, it needs a lot of work. My new page is Disney Channel Star Facts and it’s your source to all the information you could want about your favorite Disney Channel Stars. Like I said…it needs work, but I am looking forward to getting it filled with facts and fun info about the stars. You can check out the Zac Efron page to see what I am talking about. I started working on these fact sheets quite awhile ago and then got side tracked. That tends to happen when life gets crazy!

I am also going to start talking a bit more about some of the Disney Channel Stars that aren’t covered in the news and other blogs so much. They deserve to be noticed too and that’s what I am going to do! Some of them are quietly working on their Disney Channel Shows and movies and no one seems to notice. Well, Disney Society does and will! If there is a favorite Disney Channel Star that you love and would like to know more about, let me know! I am also going to dig up news and info on past DC stars and let you know what they are up to.

And on one more note….My Disney Channel Show Pages need some work too and I need to update them. I’ll be working hard at getting links and new episode info put up.

Okay, back to work. I have a lot to do!!

Disney Channel Movies and Series Updates

There are SO many new Disney movies and Disney Channel series coming out! I wanted to update you on all the latest dates and news about the shows. Here we go….

Camp Rock – Will air on the Disney Channel June 20th and again on ABC and ABC Family June 21st and 22nd. You can keep up with all the Camp Rock happenings here.
J.O.N.A.S. - The latest news on J.O.N.A.S. is that it will air on the Disney Channel sometime in September. And well, that’s all I’ve got for now. Keep up-to-date on J.O.N.A.S. news here.
Jonas Brothers “Livin’ the Dream” – I don’t have an official date yet, but we know it’s going to be a Disney Short Series. You can see the promo here.
High School Musical 3: Senior Year- Production has been pushed back to April 29th and there are talks of a SAG strike on July 1st which could put the October 24th release date in jeopardy. Let’s hope not!! Keep up with High School Musical 3 news here.
Hannah Montana the Movie – Production for this movie starts on May 6th and as of now, the release date is May 1, 2009. Click here for more Hannah Montana movie news.
The Cheetah Girls One World – I have heard that the Cheetah Girls are back in the US from India but that filming for the movie is still happening. The release date for this movie is sometime in August 2008 and it will air on the Disney Channel.

The Santa Clause, which is the first movie in the 3 part series, is coming on the Disney Channel tonight at 8/7 central. This would be the perfect time to curl up on the couch with a blanket and a hot cup of cocoa. One of my favorite things about Christmas is watching all the Christmas movies. Cast and Plot of the Disney Channel Movie ‘Camp Rock’

So what’s this Camp Rock movie all about and who all is in it? Here’s some information I found from Wikipedia about the upcoming movie.

Camp Rock is a 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie. It began production in September 2007. The musical is written by Julie Brown, Paul Brown, Regina Hicks and Karen Gist. Matthew Diamond is set to direct the movie; Alan Sacks is the producer. The movie is expected to debut in the summer of 2008.

Plot

The plot follows rockstar Shane Gray who is sent to work as a guest instructor at a summer camp. There he meets Mitchie Torres, an ambitious girl who wants to become a pop star and can only attened the expensive camp by washing dishes.
