Jake T. Austin Is Working on an Album, Holding Band Auditions

[Update: A friend of Jake's hacked his twitter acct. There is no band for Jake. He tweeted, "Hey my friend hacked onto my twitter i dont have an album or music career!!! Im gunna kill my friend lol" Now that was a good prank!! LOL.]

Wizards of Waverly Place star Jake T. Austin shared some interesting news via twitter yesterday. The boy is starting his own band!!

He tweeted, “In the studio tonight working on my new album! Band auditions tomorrow, its called the austinz!! auditions will be held shortly. i will let u know the date time and location to come try out.”

Jake T. Austin is about to have his own band? I seriously did not see that coming! I can not wait to see him sing, hear him sing and see who makes it into his band. Congrats Jake!

Jake currently stars as Max Russo in the hit Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place.

Wizards Cast Pictures from the D23 Expo

As I mentioned earlier today, the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place were well received at the D23 Expo. The crowd went nuts when they took to the stage and David Henrie was proposed to! (I’ll show you that video clip in a minute.)

Here’s a photo of the cast – Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone and Maria Canals-Barrera, plus executive producer Peter Murietta.

“Wizards of Waverly Place” Cast Greeted Like Rockstars at D23 Expo

Yesterday was the highly anticipated event at the D23 Expo with the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place. The LA Times is saying that they were greeted with “rock-star adulation” and throngs of adolescents and their parents screamed “We Love You!” and snapped pictures like the paparazzi.

I knew this was going to be one very popular event! Yesterday was a big day for the cast and show. Not only were they shown much love at the D23 Expo, but they also won an Emmy Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for Outstanding Children’s Program. What a day!

We don’t have a whole lot of information yet from the event, except that lots of girls went to the microphone during the Q&A to ask for hugs from David Henrie, who plays Justin Russo. One girl even got down on one knee and proposed!!

Almost the whole cast made it – Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone and Maria Canals-Barrera – but one cast member was not able to be there. David DeLuise attempted a flying somersault as he took to the stage and had to be taken to the emergency room in a limo. They later found out he broke his collarbone! Oh no!

Hopefully we will have some more information about the panel later. Stay tuned!

Disney Channel on Set with Wizards Cast

Disney Channel went on set again with the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place. Earlier, they asked them to share one of their funniest moments on set. You can check out their answers to that question here.

Now they’re asking them “What’s the strangest thing you’ve done to prepare for a show?” Selena Gomez, Jennifer Stone, David Henrie, and Jake T. Austin answer their question.

What strange thing did they do?

Jennifer: Becomes a ballerina and does a ballet routine.
Selena: The cast and producers say the title of the episode.
David: Has a rabbit’s foot to give him good luck.
Jake: Jogs around the stage a couple of times.

Jake T. Austin Chats with TVGuide About Wizards Movie

We have one, yes ONE day until the premiere of “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie”! Who’s excited?!

Wizards star Jake T. Austin talked with TVGuide about the movie. When describing the DCOM, he said that “Alex’s (Selena Gomez) harsh words accidentally activate a spell where their parents never met. Max is forced to play a matchmaker and reconnect [parents] Jerry and Teresa, while Alex and Justin (David Henrie) try to reverse the spell.”

Executive producer Peter Murrieta was very excited when Disney chose Wizards of Waverly Place for the movie. He told TVGuide that "Rarely have they done a movie based on their series… so we’re very excited they chose our show”.

Both Austin and Murrieta said that there is a lot for Wizard fans to be excited about when it comes to the movie. Murrieta said that viewers will see "more than 250 special effects [and] we’re going to see more about the wizard competition, the battle to become the family wizard, and more of what that looks like and is”.

Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie premieres on Aug 28 at 8/7c, on Disney Channel.

Disney Stars Get Nominated for a 2009 ALMA Award!

Several Disney stars that we know and love have been nominated for a 2009 ALMA (American Latino Media Arts) Award! Here is the list:

Actor in a Comedy: Jake T. Austin, "Wizards of Waverly Place"

Actress in a Comedy: Maria Canals-Barrera, "Wizards of Waverly Place," Disney Channel and Selena Gomez, “Wizards of Waverly Place”

Actor in a Film: Cheech Marin, “Race To Witch Mountain”

Music, Special Achievement Honoree: Demi Lovato

The nominees were announced this morning at Eva Longoria’s (Desperate Housewives) restaurant Beso. When making the announcements, Eva said "I am proud that we will be able to pay tribute to a record number of Latino performers and just thrilled to have one of the funniest men on the planet, George Lopez, as my co-host this year. If you know me and you know George, anything can happen so tune in!"

The awards show airs Friday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

WOWP Cast Say Which Wizards Should Keep Their Power

The Wizards of Waverly Place cast is everywhere! In a recent interview with the New York Post, the stars talked about which Wizard they think should be able to keep their powers. Here’s what they had to say:

David Henrie: “[Justin's] the most responsible, he takes his studying seriously and he’ll make the right decision at an important time.”

Jennifer Stone: “I really like someone who works hard and is really disciplined, so I think Justin should win. It’d be hilarious if Max ended up with the powers because he’s the one that everybody least expects.”

Selena Gomez: Although she picks Justin, too, she says, “It would be interesting to see Max win because there’s something hidden in him underneath. He’s really paying attention. [Alex] is so independent. She loves magic, but it’s not her No. 1 priority, whereas Justin lives and breathes it, and Max is there and does the work. Alex can find other things to do with her life and her friends and family.”

Jake T Austin: “I would love it if, in the last episode, our long lost brother or sister that we never knew about came in and won the power … and then did a spin-off.”

Jake also gave us one more little hint about “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” saying “There is a mini wizards competition, but it’s not the final one and it’s just a temporary result”.

Have a Magical Afternoon with the WOWP Cast at the D23 Expo!

Now this sounds like one very cool event to attend. On Sunday, September 13th, the Disney Channel will present one magical afternoon with the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place. That’s right. This is your chance to hang with Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera and David DeLuise, as well as executive producer Peter Murietta.

The event is being held at the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California from 2:00-5:00 p.m. This is your chance to ask your favorite WOWP stars questions about the show and the Wizards of Waverly Place movie.

Not only do you get to hang with the stars and ask them questions, but you get to see a special screening of the "Wizards of Waverly Place" season premiere episode and a surprise musical performance. How cool is that?!

Radio Disney host Ernie D will be there also! The whole Radio Disney Road Crew will be on hand with the "JONAS" Fan Van, playing music and inviting young fans to win prizes.

Tickets to the D23 EXPO are available at www.D23Expo.com. Admission includes access to all experiences and entertainment at the D23 EXPO and can be purchased for single days or for the full four days of festivities. Admission is $37 for a one-day adult ticket and $27 for children 3-12. Four-day passes are $111 for adults and $81 for children. Members of D23: The Official Community for Disney Fans will receive a discount on up to four same-day admissions, as well as early entry to each day of the D23 EXPO for themselves and their guests.

Special vacation packages including Disneyland Resort hotel accommodations, D23 EXPO tickets and theme park admission are available at the D23 EXPO website. Packages are available from the Walt Disney Travel Company and the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, which is offering a limited number of area hotel rooms at special rates to those attending the D23 EXPO.

“Wizards of Waverly Place” Cast Attend Disney Channels’ A Summer Soiree

Last night (July 24), in Beverly Hills, CA, the cast of “Wizards of Waverly Place” attended Disney Channel’s “A Summer Soiree – The Magic of Mentoring”. Actors Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Selena Gomez, David Henrie, David DeLuise and Maria Canals-Barrera were there.

The President of Disney Channels Worldwide, Rich Ross, was honored at the event.

Jake T. Austin and Jennifer Stone tweeted about the event. Jennifer tweeted, “Getting ready for the The Magic of Mentoring event honoring Rich Ross” and Jake tweeted, “Gettin’ ready to honor the mouse house”.

Wizards Cast Celebrates Emmy Nomination

It was announced yesterday that “Wizards of Waverly Place” was nominated for an Emmy. David Henrie tweeted this picture of the cast with their Congratulations cake. David tweeted, “twas gooooood. thanks every1”.

Selena Gomez and Jake T Austin were also excited about the nominations and headed to twitter to express their excitement. Selena Gomez tweeted, “Wizards of Waverly Place got nominated for an Emmy!!!!!!!!! What an honor, I’m speechless. I am so blessed!”. Jake tweeted, “hey idk if u already know, but we got nominated for an emmy… yea im the first to tell u”.

We here at Disney Society are very excited about the nomination! “Wizards of Waverly Place” is up against “Hannah Montana” and “iCarly”. Who do you think will win?
