David Henrie to Star in “The Weapon”

Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie is teaming up with Platinum Studios to develop their comic book series “The Weapon” into a feature film.

"Weapon" follows martial arts enthusiast and inventor Tommy Zhou, who has developed a ground-breaking portable innovation that an evil order will stop at nothing to steal. Released in 2007, "Weapon" was created by Platinum chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.

David had this to say about starring in “The Weapon”: "The Weapon’ is so awesome, and my Disney audience will enjoy the empowerment and action-filled journey my character experiences. I’m a huge fan and student of MMA (mixed martial arts), and I hope to bring that to the character of Tommy."

This sounds like a completely different role for David Henrie and I am looking forward to seeing him star in it. I did a little digging around to find out more about the comic book series and I found this cover on Amazon.com, as well as the product description:

Martial arts enthusiast and inventor Tommy Zhou has developed a groundbreaking innovation–wrist bands that create an endless variety of weapons from solid holograms. But an evil order of assassins believes Tommy has stumbled upon the long-lost mystic technique of the Order of Wu-Shi-"the way of the Weapon"–and they’re sending waves of killers after him to steal it back! Wizards Cast Pictures from the D23 Expo

As I mentioned earlier today, the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place were well received at the D23 Expo. The crowd went nuts when they took to the stage and David Henrie was proposed to! (I’ll show you that video clip in a minute.)

Here’s a photo of the cast – Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone and Maria Canals-Barrera, plus executive producer Peter Murietta.

“Wizards of Waverly Place” Cast Greeted Like Rockstars at D23 Expo

Yesterday was the highly anticipated event at the D23 Expo with the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place. The LA Times is saying that they were greeted with “rock-star adulation” and throngs of adolescents and their parents screamed “We Love You!” and snapped pictures like the paparazzi.

I knew this was going to be one very popular event! Yesterday was a big day for the cast and show. Not only were they shown much love at the D23 Expo, but they also won an Emmy Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for Outstanding Children’s Program. What a day!

We don’t have a whole lot of information yet from the event, except that lots of girls went to the microphone during the Q&A to ask for hugs from David Henrie, who plays Justin Russo. One girl even got down on one knee and proposed!!

Almost the whole cast made it – Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone and Maria Canals-Barrera – but one cast member was not able to be there. David DeLuise attempted a flying somersault as he took to the stage and had to be taken to the emergency room in a limo. They later found out he broke his collarbone! Oh no!

Hopefully we will have some more information about the panel later. Stay tuned!

Disney Channel on Set with Wizards Cast

Disney Channel went on set again with the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place. Earlier, they asked them to share one of their funniest moments on set. You can check out their answers to that question here.

Now they’re asking them “What’s the strangest thing you’ve done to prepare for a show?” Selena Gomez, Jennifer Stone, David Henrie, and Jake T. Austin answer their question.

What strange thing did they do?

Jennifer: Becomes a ballerina and does a ballet routine.
Selena: The cast and producers say the title of the episode.
David: Has a rabbit’s foot to give him good luck.
Jake: Jogs around the stage a couple of times.

David and Selena’s Radio Disney Takeover

Yesterday (August 27), Wizards of Waverly Place stars David Henrie and Selena Gomez took over Radio Disney in Burbank, Cali. They were there to talk about their Disney Channel Original Movie “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” which premieres tonight, @ 8PM ET/PT on Disney Channel!!!

When talking about the movie, Selena shared “The movie has a lot of heart. We want people to laugh and cry and appreciate your family because at the end of the day, they are the ones that really have your back.”

Selena was also on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (August 27). Check out the Radio Disney takeover and her interview below. Are you looking forward to the movie tonight?!

David Henrie Says WOWP Movie Premiere Not Happening

David Henrie has announced on his twitter account that the “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” premiere won’t be happening. Here’s what he had to say:

“okay so look… heres the deal. bad news. my charity premier idea generated traffic, a lot of traffic. which is a security issue. and I’m going to have to cancel it because I can’t hire a small military in the amount of time I have to make sure it’s safe. plus a venue seating a couple hundred would mean thousands would be turned down. and I dont want any1 upset, so im going to have to bow out of this. I wish it could have happened, woulda been dope! but when you have hundreds of thousands of followers then tens out thansands are going to show and I dont want any1 hurt…rrrrggggg i hope every1 still watches the movie and gets excited for it none the less. it’s a blessing to know that so many of u were excited to come”

I don’t think David has anything to worry about. We’ll definitely still watch the movie! “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” airs Friday, August 28th @ 8PM ET/PT on the Disney Channel.

Countdown: 4 Days Until “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie”

The cast of Wizards of Waverly Place is helping us with the countdown to the premiere of “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie”. As of right now, we have 4 days until the premiere! Here’s David Henrie telling us what we can do over the next four days.

He said, “Right now you could play video games, go surfing, get a hair cut, go shopping…but in 4 days be here for the premiere of ‘Wizard of Waverly Place the Movie’”.

WOWP Cast Say Which Wizards Should Keep Their Power

The Wizards of Waverly Place cast is everywhere! In a recent interview with the New York Post, the stars talked about which Wizard they think should be able to keep their powers. Here’s what they had to say:

David Henrie: “[Justin's] the most responsible, he takes his studying seriously and he’ll make the right decision at an important time.”

Jennifer Stone: “I really like someone who works hard and is really disciplined, so I think Justin should win. It’d be hilarious if Max ended up with the powers because he’s the one that everybody least expects.”

Selena Gomez: Although she picks Justin, too, she says, “It would be interesting to see Max win because there’s something hidden in him underneath. He’s really paying attention. [Alex] is so independent. She loves magic, but it’s not her No. 1 priority, whereas Justin lives and breathes it, and Max is there and does the work. Alex can find other things to do with her life and her friends and family.”

Jake T Austin: “I would love it if, in the last episode, our long lost brother or sister that we never knew about came in and won the power … and then did a spin-off.”

Jake also gave us one more little hint about “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” saying “There is a mini wizards competition, but it’s not the final one and it’s just a temporary result”.

Jennifer Stone & David Henrie Leave Gramercy Hotel

Wizards of Waverly Place stars Jennifer Stone and David Henrie pose for photos as they leave the Gramercy Hotel in New York City on Thursday (August 6).

The cast has been in New York promoting their upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie”. Yesterday, they made an appearance on The View! It’s fun to watch them all sit down for an interview together.

They are now headed to a new destination and were tweeting from the plane.

Jennifer Stone tweeted, “I just had the coolest flight! It’s hard to beat having Robert Downey Jr. as a fellow passenger.”

Selena Gomez tweeted, “Did you know you can iChat on planes??!!? Jenn was making fun of me the entire flight.”

“Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” premieres on the Disney Channel August 28th.

Have a Magical Afternoon with the WOWP Cast at the D23 Expo!

Now this sounds like one very cool event to attend. On Sunday, September 13th, the Disney Channel will present one magical afternoon with the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place. That’s right. This is your chance to hang with Selena Gomez, David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera and David DeLuise, as well as executive producer Peter Murietta.

The event is being held at the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California from 2:00-5:00 p.m. This is your chance to ask your favorite WOWP stars questions about the show and the Wizards of Waverly Place movie.

Not only do you get to hang with the stars and ask them questions, but you get to see a special screening of the "Wizards of Waverly Place" season premiere episode and a surprise musical performance. How cool is that?!

Radio Disney host Ernie D will be there also! The whole Radio Disney Road Crew will be on hand with the "JONAS" Fan Van, playing music and inviting young fans to win prizes.

Tickets to the D23 EXPO are available at www.D23Expo.com. Admission includes access to all experiences and entertainment at the D23 EXPO and can be purchased for single days or for the full four days of festivities. Admission is $37 for a one-day adult ticket and $27 for children 3-12. Four-day passes are $111 for adults and $81 for children. Members of D23: The Official Community for Disney Fans will receive a discount on up to four same-day admissions, as well as early entry to each day of the D23 EXPO for themselves and their guests.

Special vacation packages including Disneyland Resort hotel accommodations, D23 EXPO tickets and theme park admission are available at the D23 EXPO website. Packages are available from the Walt Disney Travel Company and the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, which is offering a limited number of area hotel rooms at special rates to those attending the D23 EXPO.
