If you love music as much as I do, then this movie will truly speak to you. I know that may sound corny, but seriously, it’s all about the music.

Let’s talk about the characters real quick, without me giving too much away:

Lisa Kudrow – She’s the protective mother who is confused by her son’s change in behavior. She shows what most single parents of teenagers are experiencing…confusion. She had some great lines and at times I saw a bit of Phoebe from Friends. I just love her.

Gaelan Connell – He is absolutely adorable. He’s the nerd in school who uses his love of music to become, well, almost cool. Throughout the movie, you’ll find out more and more about his character. They don’t throw his whole story at you all at once.

Aly Michalka – That girl can sing! Her character discovers Gaelan and that he’s one of those nice guys. She sees him helping a girl who got knocked down and she runs out and instantly recruits him for a little job. You also see her character go through quite a few changes. Changes that will make you cry and also a little mad.

Vanessa Hudgens – This is a role like none other for Vanessa. There is not a hint of Gabriella in there, except that voice. Vanessa’s character’s name is Sa5m and the yes, the 5 is silent. As you have probably seen in the previews, Vanessa’s character and Gaelan’s character seem to like each other. I won’t go into too much detail about their relationship because I don’t want to ruin anything for you!

Overall, I thought this was one great movie. I talked to several other media folks who were screening the movie with me and they all seemed to like it. Everyone agreed on one thing, they liked the music. Not only did I like the music, but the story line is just good. It shows how hard being different in high school can be. It shows what those considered less popular have to go through and it shows how one person’s mistake can leave you labeled for ever.

“Bandslam” premieres in theaters on Friday, August 14th. I highly recommend you go see it!

Vanessa Anne Hudgens ("High School Musical 1 & 2," High School Musical 3: Senior Year) and Aly Michalka ("Phil of the Future," pop music duo Aly & AJ) join Gaelan Connell, Scott Porter, and Lisa Kudrow in the music-driven comedy BANDSLAM.

When gifted singer-songwriter Charlotte Banks (Michalka) asks new kid in town Will Burton (Connell) to manage her fledgling rock band, she appears to have just one goal in mind: go head-to-head against her egotistical musician ex-boyfriend, Ben (Porter), at the biggest event of the year, a battle of the bands. 

Against all odds, their band develops a sound all its own with a real shot at success in the contest. Meanwhile, romance brews between Will and Sa5m (Hudgens), who plays a mean guitar and has a voice to die for. When disaster strikes, it’s time for the band to make a choice: Do they admit defeat, or face the music and stand up for what they believe in?

Quite a few Disney Stars attended the ‘Twilight’ premiere instead of the BOLT premiere. That doesn’t surprise me. Even though Twilight isn’t a Disney film, it’s HUGE among that age group and I am sure fellow actors and actresses wanted to show their support for the ‘Twilight’ stars. I wonder if Miley Cyrus was offended. What do you think?

Aly & AJ Michalka look absolutely gorgeous! On May 20th, they both attended the Dolce party which was celebrating their 5 year anniversary.

As far as what these two young ladies are up to these days…

Alyson Michalka is starring as Charlotte Barnes in “Rock On”, which is set to make it debuted sometime in 2009. It’s about a high school outcast’s bond with a popular girl over their shared love of music results in them assembling a rock group that looks to win their school’s upcoming battle of the bands competition.

AJ Michalka is starring as Clarissa in “The Lovely Bones”, which has a release date of October 2009. It’s about a young girl who was brutally raped and murdered, watches the effects of her death on her family from Heaven, as her parents drift apart, her father becomes obsessed with vengeance and her sister grows into the woman she would never be.

It’s good to see that they are working and independently of each other.

Hannah Montana fans will have 14 new opportunities to see their favorite teen sensation in concert according to a CNN report. Tickets for the new concert dates will go on sale Saturday, December 15. Sister act, Aly & AJ, will be performing at some of the new concert dates.
