Three Disney Films Rank as Top 10 Most Expensive Films Ever Made
July 8, 2009 by Julie Bonner
The Film Review has a list of “The Ten Most Expensive Movies Ever Made”. Three Disney films made the cut.
C0ming in at number 6 was “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”, which was made in 2008 and cost $200 million. Director Andrew Adamson shot the film in New Zealand, Prague, Slovenia and Poland, which definitely helped add to the costs of production. It had a gross revenue of $420 million, so I don’t think there were too many complaints.
Coming in at number at number 3 was “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”, which was made in 2006. It cost $225 million to bring Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom back for the sequel. It raked in over $1 billion at the box office. Not bad, not bad at all.
Coming in at number one was “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”, which was filmed in 2007. This was the final installment of the Disney trilogy and cost $300 million. The critics were hard on the film, but it won ‘Best Movie’ at the People’s Choice Awards and brought in a gross revenue of $1 billion.
What will Disney do next to top these three films?

Selena Gomez “It Was Like a Big Sleepover!”
July 8, 2009 by Julie Bonner
Selena Gomez, star of “Wizards of Waverly Place”, chatted with Time Out Kids to talk about her new movie with BFF Demi Lovato, “Princess Protection Program”. She talked about what it was like to work with Demi, is she always wanted to be famous and if she has been able to avoid the pitfalls that so many young stars fall into.
On working with Demi in PPP: “Picture doing a movie with your best friend at 16. It was like a big sleepover! It really didn’t feel like work at all. It was strange to pretend that I didn’t know her in the beginning of the movie, since I’ve known her for ten years now, but it was fun. My favorite scene is when my character, Carter Mason, a rural Louisiana tomboy, bonds with Demi’s princess. It was interesting to play a girl who takes an emotional journey and ultimately comes to understand and learn about the true meaning of friendship.”
On if she always wanted to be famous: “No. I started in this business because I love acting. I was ecstatic when I got The Wizards of Waverly Place. When we first started shooting it, we actually had to pay people to come and watch the show because no one knew what it was! Now we haven’t even started season three and all of our shows are sold out. It’s been really crazy, but it’s been wonderful.”
On avoiding the pitfalls: “Knock on wood! Having had to work really hard to get where I am has a lot to do with it, but mostly it’s my parents. I’ve never disobeyed them. I’ve always tried to listen to them and do my best to follow the rules since they obviously know what’s best for me. Of course, I am 16, so there are times when I fight with them, but that’s normal.”

“Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam” Debuts in 2010
July 8, 2009 by Julie Bonner
The Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato are ready to go for “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”, which is set to debut in 2010. Production on the movie will begin this summer. The movie has a new director and writer and seems to borrow a plot from Shakespeare.

Demi and the Jonas Brothers will head back to “Camp Rock”, as well as Meaghan Jette Martin, Maria Canals-Barrera and Alyson Stoner. The characters will discover that some of the campers have ditched Camp Rock for a rival camp next door called Camp Star.
Also joining the film is hip hop artist Matthew “Mdot” Finley and Chloe Bridges, a 17-year-old classical pianist. Mdot plays the reigning singer across the lake at Camp Star who challenges Camp Rock to a musical showdown.
So where does the Shakespeare plot come into play? It comes when Nate (Nick Jonas) falls for Dana (Chloe Bridges), the daughter of Camp Star’s owner. So Nick has a love interest! It was Joe last time, now it’s Nick’s turn.
It’s good to hear a little bit more about this DCOM! What do you think about it?
