Disney Society Exclusive Interview with Jason Dolley

May 12, 2009 by Julie Bonner

admphotos384087-Jason-Dolley In celebration of the release of the Hatching Pete/Dadnapped DVD, which is today, I had the opportunity to chat with Jason Dolley. Jason plays Pete Ivey in “Hatching Pete” and he was a blast to talk to. He is so sweet! Enjoy the interview and thanks to the twitter community for submitting some great questions! Enjoy.

Disney Society: So, you play Pete Ivey in Hatching Pete. How did you get the role? Did Disney approach you, or did you have to audition?

Jason: Disney approached me about it. It sort of worked into the whole Cory in the House deal and same with Minutemen too. They showed me the script and said ‘What do you think about doing this?’ and I read the script and was like ‘Yeah. I’m happy to.’

Disney Society: Pete is a very shy guy and the chicken costume helps him break out of his shell a little. Can you relate to that at all in real life?

Jason: Yeah, especially when I was in elementary school and the beginning of high school and junior high. We all kind of have that awkward stage where you’re not really comfortable in your skin, or who you are. So, I definitely dealt with that. It also falls into the being nervous with girls category. That was kind of a big thing for me in elementary school for sure. I totally can relate to that.

Dadnapped/Hatching Pete Double Feature DVD

May 6, 2009 by Julie Bonner

HatchingPeteandDadnappedDVD On May 12th, two popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Dadnapped and Hatching Pete, will be released on DVD as a double feature. This is the first time that two Disney feature length movies are coming together on one disc.

I received my copy the other day and we watched both movies again, as well as all of the great bonus features. I really hope Disney continues to release DCOM’s in a double feature like this. It just makes sense and it’s such a great addition to any Disney fan’s DVD collection!

Dadnapped

In Dadnapped, fourteen year-old Melissa (Emily Osment) is struggling with a unique kind of sibling rivalry. To get her father Neil’s (George Newburn) attention, she has to compete with teenage spy Tripp Zoome, the main character in her father’s best selling novels. Her dad spends so much time on his imaginary son’s exciting missions that even Melissa’s special daughter-dad vacation gets interrupted by a promotional event for Neil’s newest book. But when Neil is abducted by overzealous fanboys and falls into the clutches of a pair of sinister brothers, the fictional Tripp can’t save him and Melissa will have to try to channel her "inner Zoome" to rescue her dad.

Hatching Pete

A bashful high school student finds fames as a high-flying poultry impersonator in Hatching Pete. Pete’s (Jason Dolley) best friend Poole (Mitchel Musso) wants to keep up his family’s longstanding tradition of playing their high school mascot, the Chicken, but Poole is allergic to the costume. Pete agrees to stand in for his pal, but only on the condition that his identity remains a secret. The anonymity of the Chicken suit gives Pete the freedom he’s always dreamed of and a whole new personality emerges. His unexpectedly outrageous antics make the Chicken an instant celebrity— except no one knows it’s Pete. As Poole reaps the benefits of his pal’s talent, Pete must decide if it’s time to reveal that he’s the man behind the beak.

Hatching Pete Bonus Features
• Unmasking The Mascot – A Hatching Pete bonus feature so viewers can find out what it’s really like inside the suit!

Dadnapped Bonus Features
• Exclusive Extended Ending
• Trip Zoome: Off The Rails: An Animated Graphic Novel

Tiffany Thornton Chats “Hatching Pete”

April 21, 2009 by Julie Bonner

Shine on Media did an exclusive interview with “Sonny with a Chance” and “Hatching Pete” star Tiffany Thornton. She talked about both the show, the movie, how she got started in acting and much more.

The Disney Channel Original Movie “Hatching Pete” makes its debut this Friday, April 24th. The movie is about “a quiet 16-year-old who reluctantly agrees to substitute for his gregarious best friend Cleatus Poole after an allergic reaction renders Poole unable to fulfill his duties — unlike generations of his family before him — as Brewster High School’s mascot, a chicken. Poole keeps this unnerving fact a secret from his parents, Principal and pals, except the obliging Pete.

“At his first game, Pete as the chicken is tentative at first; he might as well be invisible to the sparse crowd of Rooster Boosters watching their team muddle through another game. But the chicken’s chance collision with an opposing player leaves spectators in stitches and awakens a natural performer in Pete who mixes slapstick stunts and mimicry on the sidelines of the basketball court. But the team’s Coach Mackey is not amused and sets out to stop Poole who he thinks is the one inside the chicken suit.”
