Disney Channel will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with programming events for preschoolers, kids, tweens and families starting on September 15th. Included is a Playhouse Disney mini-marathon and new episode of its Emmy and Imagen Award-nominated series Handy Manny.
Wilmer Valderrama of "Handy Manny" and Maria Canals-Barrera of the hit Emmy-nominated series "Wizards of Waverly Place" will host interstitials highlighting Hispanic traditions. The interstitials will also feature kids from around the nation sharing cultural traditions such as La Arana, Los Pollitos, salsa dancing and Quinceañeras.

“Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” cast a spell on 11.4 million total viewers! It was the number one entertainment telecast in 2009 among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, and is Cable’s No. 1 Telecast in Viewers. Sweet!

Among Disney Channel’s 77 Disney Channel Original Movies, “Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie” came in at number 2 in total viewers. It was just behind August 2007’s mega-hit “High School Musical 2.”
