Bridgit Mendler Lands Disney Gig, “Good Luck Charlie”

July 15, 2009 by Julie Bonner

Bridgit Mendler, who made a guest appearance in several Disney Channel series including “JONAS” and “Wizards of Waverly Place”, has landed a new Disney gig.

She has been tapped to star in a brand new Disney Channel series “Good Luck Charlie”. Disney fell in love with the 16 year old and the media is calling her “the next Miley Cyrus”. Check out her part in “JONAS” where she played Nick’s love interest.

“We just fell in love with her,” said Adam Bonnett, senior Vice President of original programming at Disney Channel. “She has all the attributes of a Disney star.”

You can see Bridgit in a cameo for WOWP four part saga airing July 24th. She plays a vampire named Julie.

What is “Good Luck Charlie” about? It’s part of Disney’s new programming next year.

Bridgit will play the role of Teddy Holliday who, together with her brothers must babysit their baby sister named Charlie while their parents go to work. According to THR, Teddy will create a video diary for Charlie, telling her about the adventure of the day and also advising her on what to do when she grows up.

Playing her brothers are Jason Dolley and newcomer Bradley Perry. Sweet! Are you excited about this new show?

this show sounds boring already and i haven’t even seen it. why can’t disney give someone who has disney talent a show like alyson stoner she can dance, she’s been on the suite life, and in camp rock. every disney star doesn’t have to sing, bridgit can’t sing so how will she be the next miley. no one will be the next miley.

  4. meeeeeeee says:

i know at least 30 people who saw her on jonas and said right away “shes not pretty enough for nick, shes ugly” and personally all those people and me hate her. shes ugly, she will never be the next Miley, ever, not even the next Demi.

Bridgit is obviously very talented, but i think her acting talents will win new audiences over more than her other abilities to sing, play guitar, the rest; she has already (strongly) developed as an actress, but reviewers and fans are quick to promote her as a “triple threat” when she hasn’t quite hit her stride with a solid audience or fan base yet.

another thing to point out is that Bridgit will play next to Jason Dolley on the show (accolades to him, as well), and this is just as much a break for him as it is for her.

the format of this new show sounds a little like “Life With Derek”, what with a teen girl and her brother helping raise their younger siblings together, and that show helped launch a solid career doing other acting gigs for Ashley Leggat…

yeah, i think this could be very good.
