The Rise of Demi Lovato
July 13, 2009 by Julie Bonner
WWD has a great article about the rise of tween queen Demi Lovato. The rising Disney star has a full plate these days and the media is definitely noticing.
Between her Disney Channel series “Sonny with a Chance”, her nationwide concert tour and the release of her second album “Here We Go Again”, it’s time to take this gal seriously. And don’t forget “Camp Rock”, “Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam” and of course the wildly popular “Princess Protection Program”.
Demi is obviously a talented actress and musician, so what comes first? She tells WWD, she is first and foremost a musician.
It’s my first love,” she says of music. “Acting is just kind of a way to pay for the singing.” She pauses, clearly considering this notion, and then adds, “I mean, not anymore. Acting now is like a new challenge, new hobby, a new passion even.”
Fashion is a big deal when it comes to the tween/teen star world. Disney stars probably have to be more careful than anyone when it comes to their fashion choices. When Demi puts something on, she keeps her young audience in mind.
“Sometimes,” she muses, “when I want to wear a really hot skirt or something, I think, ‘Would you want your little sister to wear that skirt in two years? No.’”
Are you excited about Demi’s new album and Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam? I do believe this girl has staying power and we will be seeing a lot more of Ms. Demi Lovato! Her album “Here We Go Again” drops July 21st!!
