“The Secret Life of the American Teenager” Season 2 Premieres Tonight

Season 2 of “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” airs tonight on ABC Family at 8/7 central. I had a chance to watch the entire season 1 on DVD and needless to say, I am hooked on this show. I like shows that deal, really deal, with situations that people are facing and this show gives us a real look into high school and what’s going on.

Walt Disney Studios has helped create a show with a new, fresh cast of young people who deal with the issues teenagers are facing today. They also brought in Molly Ringwald, who I have always been a fan of.

Season 1 is now on DVD. If you have never seen the show, or want to catch up before you watch season 2, grab your copy today. As well as watching all the season 1 episodes, you can watch some behind the scenes footage and see the actors talk about the show and their characters.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager follows six friends as they learn to define themselves while they navigate the perilous waters of contemporary adolescence. Everyone at Grant High School has something to hide, like Amy Juergens (Shailene Woodley). Viewed as a “good girl” and a band geek, Amy is pregnant and does not know how to break the news to her parents. Cheerleader Grace Bowman’s (Megan Park) struggle to keep her vow of chastity; Ricky Underwood hides his skeletons in the closet; and even Amy’s parents conceal the truth behind their shaky marriage.  There is always more than meets the eye in this poignant portrait of modern day life in high school.
