Miley Cyrus ‘We’re Thinking This is Our Last Season’
Miley Cyrus told E! Online that this may be the last season of Hannah Montana. She said, “We’re thinking this is our last season. I just think we did a lot of episodes. We basically did two seasons in one last year. Usually people would do one season that would be, like, 16 episodes, we did almost 30 episodes! It seems like it’s been on, like, longer.
I’m still with my [Disney] family though. You know, they’re safe. They always feel like home. And that’s what I love about the company. They are family.”
This makes sense to me. She has the Hannah Montana Movie coming out in May ‘09 and the rating haven’t been the best lately for her show. She’s also obviously been trying to step away from the Hannah Montana image and breakout on her own. Hence her “Breakout” CD.
Do you think season 3 is the best time to end Hannah Montana?

i like to watch hannah montana!! that is one of my favorite disneychannel shows along side wizards of waverly place. i like the suite life but i think they show it too much. they give the suite life like 5 times in one day and hannah montana and wizards of waverly place like 2 times. they are in season 2 of hannah montana now right? well, i dont think they should end it but if they have to then i think that they should start winding down the episodes in season 3. like, dont add a whole bunch of new people and maybe have people find out mileys secret or something. they should have a HUGE season fanale or something. but once they stop new episodes they should still give hannah montana. i also think that if miley starts to loose the hannah image that she herself would loose a whole bunch of fans! her hannah audience is mostly made up of people ages 2-10 and she’ll loose alot of that. her miley audience is like ages 11-17.loosing the hannah image could be a big risk shes taking.

Disney has a fairly long-standing policy of only making at most three seasons of its Disney Channel shows. There are exceptions — they went back and did a season four of Kim Possible, and now they’re sort of working around that limit by transforming the Suite Life into a new incarnation — but on the whole they stick to three seasons max and then move on, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if this is the last season of HM. But you also have to keep in mind that season 2 has been airing for over a year now and still isn’t finished (no wonder Miley feels like it’s been longer than two seasons; by most TV standards it has). If they film another 30 episodes for season 3, HM could easily run through 2009 and into 2010. And they could always cap it off with another feature film, assuming the first one does well. (I’m thinking that’s a pretty safe assumption.)
By then Miley will be 17-18 and I’d imagine more than ready to move on. You can already tell she’s getting restless. What I’d love to see is if they could successfully retool and transition the franchise to ABC or ABC Family like they were planning to do with Lizzie McGuire before Hilary Duff backed out. But that’s mostly because I’d like to see what they’d do with the show using adult or teen drama conventions rather than children’s, it doesn’t make much sense as a business decision for Miley. She, or at least the people around her, especially her dad, must be aware of how unwise it would be to let her to continue to be pigeonholed as Hannah. They’ve made a good start on moving the franchise from Hannah Montana to Miley-Cyrus-as-Hannah, towards just Miley Cyrus, which not only has broader appeal but a much higher capacity to withstand the aging of its fans and star. Since Miley obviously intends to be in this business for a long time, it makes more sense for her to make a clean break with Hannah as soon as possible in favor of the greater longevity of her own brand.
Um, wow. Sorry, that was a really long answer to basically say yes, I think season three is the best time to end HM. Certainly for Miley, and likely for Disney as well, who will no doubt want to continue working with her, but in a capacity that is not specifically targeted at young children, one where they are not seen as responsible for her actions and therefore won’t have to pretend to be upset/embarrassed by her so-called “scandals”. It’ll be interesting to see what happens once HM is over. I guess we’ll find out how much of Miley’s “Disney is my family” assertations are true.

i sssoooo agree. because you dont want things going on to long because you just plain get tired of it. i mean I like hannah montana but it getd old sometimes.

i agree. hannah montana is just holding miley back! now that mileys new album came out she’s targeted a whole new audience which is great! she needs to let go of hannah montana! they should just finish season 2 and maybe start season 3 but then end with a big season finale or make the second to last episode a “to be continued” episode which leads up to the season finale or they end it with a moive. hannah montana does attract a whole young audience but its best that miley stop the hannah thing if she wants to continue in her career. and i do agree with Lo that every disney channel show only has like 3 or 4 seasons and then they are done. wizards of waverly place is in the second season and so is life with derek. those shows are probably gonna end by season 3. you also have to think age. jason earles from hannah montana is like almost 30 or is 30 i dont remember but if you keep doing hannah montana then he’s gonna be 50 and miley’s gonna be 30 by the time they finish the show so i think miley would do so much better if she stop the hannah montana thing bc its just gonna start to get old. very soon every new episode is gonna be about her trying to hide her secret and thats gonna get very very old. i think miley should try to be in other great movies and shows because the hannah montana thing is holding her back!! thats the only show she has done! she hasnt guest starred on anything but the “thats so suite life of hannah montana” but thats really it! she hasnt been in any movies either except she is doing a voice-over in the new movie “Bolt”.see what happens, miley has forgotten about hannah montana for a while and they call her in for a movie! take demi lovato for example.she has done camp rock and very soon camp rock 2,the princess protection program,soon welcome to mollywood,and guest starred on Just Jordan. she was even on barney!! see, demi has done a variety of things! miley on the other hand hasnt because she has kept that hannah montana image for so long! i used to kinda like hannah montana but now i think it just needs to stop! its getting old and i think miley will be better off without hannah. hannah montana hasnt even made any new songs! its just gettin old! you cant hold an image like that for too long! im sorry this is very long but i had alot to say! lol!

I have the oppisite view of most people. If HM season 3 does end up with 30 episodes then i say they can stop. But if it has less than 30; i would want them to do one more season (a fourth). Miley’s still and will be young; and her most loyal fans come from the Hannah Montana fanbase. They should carry the franchise for as long as it will last with the fans; which in my opinion should be 4 seasons.

sure im gonna be sad..but each show has a end..but i heard that they are talking about a fourth season for the show wich will be great…if they do a 4th season..but after that they should stop..but slowly and i dont think she will lose bunch of her fans cause her new cd is no.1 on the billboard and has hannah montana connection..i dont the show to end but i cant do nothing about that, like i said every show has to end someday, but i hope she wont going to far away from the disney family

As a parent who has spent many dollars on Hannah Montana “stuff” for her daughter, I say, “No, they shouldn’t end the Hannah Montana Show” yet. I feel like they have exploited us and after we spend the money, end it all too soon. My daughter is still enjoying the show. Thank you.

well liz i think u have somthing to remember hannah (mileycyrus) by i remember when every girl watched lizzie miguire and it doesnt show up on tv any more but i still see kids that wearing lizzie miguire t-shirts… not so many kids wear them any more but they still have them …

I LOVE MILEY!! Idk if she should stop being hannah montana though. She is really good at acting. i understand why she is wanted to stop hannah montana and just be miley. if season 3 is the last, i hope she stars in more movies. She is sooo pretty. Her new Breakout album is FANTASTIC! I love the song Wake Up America!!!

They can’t stop at a third season. They have to keep going at least untill the novelty wears off. Hannah Montana the show is amazing and if the fans still want more they should get it. I would be so disappointed if they stop at a third season. At least keep going untill the fans say no more.. Which will be in around like 20 years.. Lol.. Just kidding.. Maybe say 5 seasons?

i think you should have someone take her place then you can go a fourth season or do a third season and have like a young cosin come in from tennesie and say that miley went back to tennesie to live there and have the other girl take her place and show like 5 years later and show some one who looks like her and she sould be the new hannah montana so how do you like you could have no miley stewert or cyrus

Im not sure if this is true anymore but apperntly after the HM movie they will be shooting hannah montana season four witch will only have 20 episodes .. Im not sure i just read it in a magizine
