Hannah Montana and Wal-Mart Join Forces

January 30, 2008 by Julie Bonner

CropperCapture[293]I noticed the other day when I was in Wal-Mart, that they had Hannah Montana clothes everywhere. I figured something was up and sure enough….Wal-Mart and Disney have joined forces with Disney to carry products from the wildly popular Hannah Montana show.

They will announce today their partnership with Disney for more than 140 products based on the show. “Wal-Mart says it wants to be the ‘accessible’ and ‘affordable’ source for licensed products. “The concert tickets were really hard to get, and really expensive,” says Bareis. “What we’re trying to do is give more access.”

Wal-Mart’s licensed goods — from food to clothing and even a Hannah-esque blond wig — target girls ages 6 to 14, says Bareis. While that is the marketing sweet spot, she says, ‘We see 4-year-olds who are dancing around and want Hannah Montana merchandise’.”

How else will Wal-Mart display Hannah Montana items? The Hannah Montana Best of Both Worlds movie will display ads showing the merchandise that is available. Wal-Mart will also set up mini Hannah Montana displays in their stores. Other departments that will join in include the bakery, which will sell Hannah Montana cupcakes and cakes and also the vision center who are already carrying frames.

So, if you are looking for some affordable Hannah Montana merchandise, you now know where to look!
