Disney’s ABC says the Oscars Will Air

January 9, 2008 by Julie Bonner

With the cancellation of the Golden Globes show, which has been replaced with a news conference, talk about the fate of the Academy Awards was inevitable.

Disney’s ABC says they are confident that the awards will air on their scheduled date of February 24th, despite the Writer’s strike. Sources were reporting that Disney ABC executives were reaching out to media buyers and discussing what to do in the event that the strike does cause the cancellation of the Oscars. Disney ABC denies this completely:

(The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) is fully committed to doing the show, and we have not been out there with contingency plans for advertisers," an ABC spokeswoman said.
